On December 18, 2007, the voters of the SECSD approved a referendum in the amount of $25,200,000.00. Beginning in January of 2008, the District’s Construction and Design Coordinator, Ronald Compeau, began working with the District’s Administrators and the Architectural Firm of Bearsch, Compeau, Knudson to develop and design the construction documents, which need to be submitted to and approved by the State Education Department.
Our project was phased into two submissions. Phase 1 has been approved and is now under construction. The work presently in progress is our new Concession Building, our new Elementary Band Room addition, and parking lots that surround the elementary building. In addition, we are replacing the first floor unit ventilators in the elementary school, replacing carpet in the elementary Library and Main Office area. There is also a good deal of mechanical and electrical upgrades being made.
All of the work, except the Band Room addition, will be completed prior to school starting in September. The Band Room will be completed in early December. We are looking forward to moving in over the holiday break.
Phase 2 involves all of the construction work scheduled for the Middle and High School building. At this time the design and construction documents are being finalized and will be submitted to the State Education Department early in July. We are anticipating construction beginning in January 2010 and completed by December2011, a two- year construction project.
During this summer, we are planning the construction sequencing process, which we call “CONSTRUCTION COEXISTING WITH INSTRUCTION.”
We are all so very proud of our facilities and look forward to the upgrades this project is providing for our students. We thank the voters of the District for their support and we take your trust in us very seriously. We will continue to keep you updated. Please take a moment and review the information on the power points and the view from the construction camera. If you are viewing this page from home or another location, click on Off Campus.
